AMERON Hotel ABION Spreebogen Berlin Destination Wasserturm Fernsehturm

City trip | Discover Berlin

The AMERON Berlin ABION Spreebogen Waterside is the ideal starting point for your activities in the city. We show you the most beautiful and exciting corners of the capital.

12xBerlin

Berlin's 12 districts give the German capital its face. Each has its own unique charm. The Kiez, especially in Berlin, refers to a still manageable residential area in the individual districts. Every Berliner lives in his or her neighbourhood and - according to the cliché - never leaves it. This makes it both smaller and larger than any other district. Kiez is a cult. It creates identity and gives its inhabitants a sense of home. Some Kiez have no name, others have made it into the Berlin travel guides of this world. Take a look here: Kollwitzkiez, Boxhagenerkiez, Bergmannkiez.

Street Food

Street food markets and food trucks have become a real trend. Here you can discover new tastes on an upscale level from all over the world. Whether Thai tapioca dumplings or Vietnamese porridge - the choice is overwhelming. But also classics like cheese spaetzle or the good old burger are reinterpreted by the food truck operators. The Markthalle Neun in Kreuzberg is very popular. With Street Food Thursday, the operators started a wave of street food events in Berlin. Other successful events followed, such as the Naschmarkt and the Breakfast Market.

Victory Column | Siegessäule

The Victory Column with its golden Victoria statue is one of Berlin's most famous landmarks, along with the Brandenburg Gate and the TV Tower. After climbing the 285 steps, you have a wonderful view over the Tiergarten and the roofs of the city from the viewing platform. Among other things, the Siegessäule became famous for the Love Parade, whose closing party was held for many years on the square in front of the Siegessäule. Berliners don't have much to do with the official name. They call the Victoria the "Goldelse".

Spätkauf - Berlin neighbourhood culture

The Späti is one of the most important places to go in Berlin and an integral part of neighbourhood culture. Whether basic groceries, flowers, the after-work beer or tobacco products. You can get almost anything here. There are about 1,000 of them in the capital, most of them in the city centre. It is a supermarket, meeting place, internet café, bakery, drugstore, lottery office, post office and pub all in one.

Zoo & Café at the New Lake

More than just a beer garden. In the middle of the Tiergarten, romantically situated by the lake and between trees, is one of the most beautiful beer gardens in Berlin. Here, after just a short walk, you can enjoy oven-fresh pizza and cool beer in a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere.

Distance from the hotel: approx. 15 min. (public transport)

The Oberbaum Bridge

The Oberbaum Bridge connects the districts of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain and is the landmark of these districts. The central arch of the bridge is adorned by two towers, each 34 metres high, whose cantilevered battlements are modelled on the middle gate tower of the city wall in Prenzlau. From there you have a good view of the Molecule Man, which was created in May 1999 by the American sculptor Jonathan Borofsky. It is a three-person sculpture that was erected near the intersection of the three districts of Alt-Treptow, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain.

Spree & Landwehr Canal

The Spree runs like a lifeline through the heart of Berlin. From the water, a unique view of a city with many faces opens up: enjoy the view of sights and other interesting places on the banks during a Spree cruise, in constant alternation between old and new, modern and classic. The most comprehensive is the 3-hour tour along the Spree and the Landwehr Canal. Departure ports Jannowitzbrücke or Schlossbrücke/Charlottenburg. For smaller tours you are welcome to use the port point of the Stern & Kreis shipping company at the hotel.

Distance from the hotel: directly on the Spree

Museum Island

The unique ensemble in the heart of Berlin has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. The collections on display on the Museum Island span a range from prehistory and antiquity to 19th century art. Every year, more than three million people experience this fascination. The Humboldt Forum and the Museum Island, with their range of collections, specialist libraries and event facilities, are intended to form a link between science, art and culture. Opposite the Museum Island, the Forum an der Museumsinsel will open its doors in 2020. Eight listed buildings and a large central city square invite you to linger.

Distance from the hotel: approx. 30 minutes (by public transport).

Waldbühne

The Waldbühne is one of the most impressive open-air stages in Europe and has room for 22,000 spectators. You have a good view from all seats and enjoy excellent acoustics. During the summer months, artists come here to perform. Whether Herbert Grönemeyer, Helene Fischer, Rolling Stones, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra or Roland Kaiser.
